The teaching and learning of Geography at Manor Primary School aims to foster a genuine interest of places and environments, gaining knowledge and understanding about their local area, other regions in the United Kingdom and places in the wider world.

Geography aims to provide children with skills for life, learning how to draw and interpret maps, developing the research, investigation, analysis and problem solving skills. Through growing knowledge of human Geography, we teach children a respect and understanding of what it means to be a positive citizen in a multi-cultural country as well as encouraging children to appreciate life in other cultures and what it means to be a ‘global citizen’.

The teaching of Geography also motivates children to find out about the physical world enabling children to learn and recognise the importance of sustainable development for future mankind, understanding environmental problems at a local, regional and global level.
